Alicia Steinmetz is a political theorist and historian of political thought, specializing in early modern and Enlightenment political thought. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Politics and International Relations at Florida International University. Previously, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the MacMillan Center at Yale University and with the Civics Initiative at Stanford University. Her research and teaching interests include advertising, imagination and imaginaries, translation, sophistry and rhetoric, pluralism, and theories of freedom. She holds a PhD in Political Science from Yale University and a BA from Bryn Mawr College, and she was previously a Fulbright Fellow in Nitra, Slovakia, and a Fox Fellow at the University of Cambridge, Sidney Sussex College.
